Alphonso – Ratnagiri

The name Alphonso originated from A Portuguese general and military expert Afonso de Albuquerque who helped establish a Portuguese colony in India. Alphonso is also called Hapoos. It is the most expensive mango variety. It is mainly grown in Western Indian states. The fruit size is medium and its color is yellow and orange. Alphonso mango is a great source of iron and it also contains vitamin E, vitamin A, and selenium.
It contains highly rich antioxidants. It is a very demanding variety of mango that’s why it is exported to other countries.

Chaunsa – Bihar and Uttar Pradesh

Chaunsa is grown in Pakistan and some parts of India. This variety of mango was made popular by Sher Shah Suri throughout the Indian subcontinent. Humayun gave his favorite mango the name Chaunsa after victory over Chausa. It has an aromatic and sweet flavor. Chausa’s color is golden-yellow. It has a high nutritional value with juicy pulp and a sweet taste. It contains high Vitamin C. It is mostly exported to other countries like Europe, Canada, and the United States.

Dasheri – Malihabad, Uttar Pradesh

Dasheri mango is mostly grown in North India, Nepal, and Pakistan. It is the largest produced in Malihabad in Uttar Pradesh. It is derived from a village near Kakori in Lucknow. It is very sweet in taste and green, yellow. It is exported to other countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and The Philippines.

This mango variety is known as langra because it was first grown in the farms of a lame man. It is a green color mango after it is fully ripe and oval. It is a very tasty and sweet mango. It is harvested in July last after the monsoon.

Badami – Karnataka

Badami mango is one of the delicious mangoes grown in India. It is known as Karnataka Alphonso because it is similar to Alphonso’s mango. It is a golden-yellow color with red on the top of the mango. It is sweet and contains less fiber. It has thin skin which is easy to remove and enjoy the flesh of Badami mango.

Mulgoba – Tamil Nadu

Mulgoba is one of the best mangoes grown in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It is large in size and juicy in taste. It has hard seeds inside and is fragrant also. It is mostly grown in some districts of Tamil Nadu that as Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. It is harvested in May and it is fiber-less fruit. A variety of this mango is transplanted in Florida which is called Mulgoba.

Himsagar mango is a very popular mango that originated from West Bengal. It is also known as Khirsapati. It is yellow and orange and does not contain fiber. Mainly grown in some districts of West Bengal like Malda, Murshidabad, Hooghly, and Nadia. It is harvested in May and it is available till June.

Gir Kesar – Saurashtra, Gujarat

Gir Kesar is also known as Kesar which is grown in the foothills of Girnar in Gujarat. This mango has bright orange colored pulp and is sweet. It is the most expensive variety of mango. The mango was first grown in 1931 by Junagadh Wazir Sale Bhai in Vanthali.

Neelam – Hyderabad

Neelam is grown in Hyderabad which has golden-yellow skin. It has a floral aroma with an acidic-sweet taste. It is a late-season variety that is available in the market in June and July. It is a perfectly shaped tiny size with orange juicy pulp.

Benganapalle – Andhara Pradesh
