There are about 6000 languages in the world today. Languages have existed for thousands of years, and deciding which is the oldest is one of the most heated debates! Kingdoms were founded a long time ago, before civilizations. Gestures and archaic oral sounds were used to communicate. Language is more than just a medium of communicating in this period of digitalization and globalisation. It also plays an important role in the development of cultures and societies.
