Bhagsunath Temple

Bhagsunath Temple

The journey to and from the falls is an independent task. Soak yourself in the exceptionally gorgeous views as you walk down the path. You will know that it was all worth it after you saw the stunningly spectacular waterfall. Take a dip in the cool water, and sit on the cliffs, and enjoy a few rays from the top, with a great view. The ancient shrine of Lord Shiva and the snake God, built by king Bhagsu, stands between the majestic swimming pools and lush greenery at an altitude of 5,807 metres above sea level. This religious centre is an important place of worship and has a beautiful atmosphere. Legend has it that King Bhagsu of Rajasthan came to the glaciers for his parched state in search of water. The “Nagdevta,” the inhabitants of this area, questioned it. The war that followed led to the defeat of the King; however, he was granted his petition to the brotherhood for water and this position was called Bhagsunath. Throughout the year, the temple draws both believers and tourists. The springs are said to be holy, surrounded by freshwater springs and green fields, with healing and medicinal properties that are unusual yet wonderful.

Triund

Triund

The Triund Trek in Mcleodganj is not to be skipped at any cost if you have time and endurance. There are, however, several points on which the path is a little steep and it is not recommended to try it with families, including elders and infants. You may also need to jump over a few little rocks at times. All along the walk, there are lush green views, cloudy paths, views of many Dhauladhar Himalayan hills, sightings of uncommon birds and herds of grassy sheep. Although the short tour to Bhagsu Waterfall is more of a family affair, Triund is the heart of everyone who wants to have a serious trek and maybe camping.

Dal Lake

Dal Lake

The lake is a beautiful place to place and spend a carefree day in nature with lush greenery and blooming flowers. Nature lovers visit this tourist destination all day long. Trekking across the lake is a choice for adventure seekers. Dal Lake is also a great spot to rest and chill as you hike up to the Sunset point of Naddi. Located in Kangra district Mcleodganj in Himachal Pradesh, Dal Lake is a small but picturesque lake, at an altitude of 1,775 metres above sea level, close to the town of Tota Rani. The lake is surrounded by robust mountains and stunning deodar trees with its name taken from the popular and spectacular Dal Lake of Srinagar. Quaint and quiet, the lake welcomes nature lovers in their natural environment to watch all kinds of fish. The best time to visit is from May to October as the weather is very favourable and friendly during this time. The area is covered with snow during the winter and it becomes very hard to spend quiet time here. Over the winter the boat is also locked. If you can schedule your trip to Dal Lake in September, you will be able to see the incredible fair.

St. John in the Wilderness Church

St. John in the Wilderness Church

The quirky church has been built in a thick forest, so it’s known as “St. John in the desert.” Another of Dharamsala’s oldest constructed structures is the final resting place of Lord Ergin, one of India’s Governors-General and Viceroy during the UK Raj. The church of St. John should not be confused in the Wilderness with a church of the same name in Uttarakhand, Nainital. On Mallital Road, the local rickshaw or taxi can easily reach St John in the Wilderness Church. As it is a popular attraction in Dharamshala, you are driven here by most of the rickshaw and cab drivers. Whether you live on Mall Road or not, you can even stumble through the mountain air, and walk to the church. St. John’s is one of the most prominent Himachal Pradesh churches, constructed in 1852. This neo-Gothic church was constructed in dedication to John the Baptist, located close to Dharamshala, along the way to Mcleodganj. This peaceful building, located among lush deodar woods, is noted for its Belgian stained-glass windows.
