Top 10 Worst Hollywood Movies of All Time
Even the thought of watching a terrible movie shakes the foundation of our precious brain, right?
The world of Hollywood has provided hundreds of different types of movies to the cinephiles. Some of them received the honour of becoming one of the greatest cinematic projects of all time. They have entertained us in a lot of unique and amazing ways. But it is not like every movie turns out to be a masterpiece. There have been several movies in the past that have successfully managed to torture the audience. They ended up wasting our time, money, and most importantly, our patience! We are listing down some of the worst movies of Hollywood here! Check them out!
Showgirls
Do you know that Showgirls received a giant total of 13 nominations at the Razzies? Yes, this record is still intact! Many grotesque movies have been dispatched after its bombastic release. Yet, none of them was able to replicate this awkward feat. It turned out to be Paul Verhoeven’s worst nightmare. And he is the same guy who has given us prominent movies like RoboCop, Total Recall and Basic Instinct. Additionally, it ended up burying Elizabeth Berkley’s career for good. Even her manager decided to stay away from her after its horrible performance.
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Christmas movies are not famous for bestowing flawless creativity and a top-notch cinematic experience. It’s a well-known fact! However, some of them have truly excelled at providing heart-touching dramatical elements and funny storylines. Sometimes, their silliness makes them more entertaining. However, this movie will spoil all your excitement about Christmas. It is nothing but 81 minutes of classic mess.
Maximum Overdrive
What happens when a globally prominent author makes his directional debut with his own horror story? He ends up making garbage like Maximum Overdrive! Stephen King is widely known as the best horror novelist. But he was unable to save himself from the “horror” it brought to his career. He himself has hailed it as a “moron movie”. The stupid blend of AC/DC’s hit songs and an awful storyline turned this movie into King’s only directional project.
Howard the Duck
The diehard comic fans know that Howard the Duck is Marvel’s creation. The comic publishing company decided to return to the live-action format after 42 long years with this character. They even got help from Universal Pictures and Lucasfilm. And guess what happened? It became Marvel’s worst movie ever! It is still a wonder how its leading performers, Lea Thompson and Tim Robbins, managed to save their precious careers after its release. It received seven nominations at the Razzies.
Mac and Me
Imagine the vintage sci-fi masterpiece, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), being butchered in the worst way possible. Oh, wait! We already have a movie that has performed this horrible experiment in the past. It is none other than Mac and Me! The directional talents of Stewart Raffill hailed this piece of junk as the worst rip-off of the 1982 classic. And it took him only six years to dispatch this litter!
The Adventures of Pluto Nash
We love Eddie Murphy to death. But we cannot forgive him for torturing us with this horrendous piece of “sci-fi comedy”. The worst part about this movie is that he had a dual role in it. It was produced at a staggering budget of $100 million. But it received only $7 million in return. It seems like a perfect time to deliver our heartfelt condolences to the producers, right? By the way, we have only one question for Rosario Dawson. What the hell were you thinking?
United Passions
United Passions was nothing but FIFA’s propaganda to clear its image from bribery and corruption. That’s it! It was universally lamented by the viewers and the critics upon its release. Special criticism was directed towards the hagiographic portrayal of Sepp Blatter. Football fans know him as a former FIFA’s president. He received a humungous ban of eight years from FIFA’s Ethics Committee for involving himself in cases of bribery, money laundering, and black money. It has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Jack and Jill
Oh my god!
Yes, this movie is that bad! It is not like that Adam Sandler does not possess acting skills. He has delivered spectacular performances in Punch-Drunk Love, The Meyerowitz Stories, and Uncut Gems. But he has also starred in some of the most dreadful Hollywood projects of all time. Jack and Jill clearly tops that list! It also left a huge stain on the illustrious filmography of Al Pacino.
Battlefield Earth
Battlefield Earth chokes our patience like John Travolta is choking that poor guy in the above picture. This movie is nothing except a hideous mishmash of ghastly sci-fi and action elements. It earned only $ 29 million against a production budget of $44 million. One of its production companies, Franchise Pictures, went bankrupt and closed down for good. The Razzies selected this crap as the worst movie of the decade in 2010. Travolta was so sure of this movie’s success that he even planned a sequel before its release in the theatres. We really need this type of confidence in our lives!
The Room
The Best Worst Movie Ever!
The recent re-evaluation of this misfire may have forced some critics to say the above words. But we cannot deny that it is ultimately the worst movie of the 21st century. Tommy Wiseau did all the work on this project. He even starred himself in the leading role alongside various other unknown performers. It is crammed with bland acting, unrelated subplots and bizarre narrative structure. Above that, it is none other than Tommy who torments us the most. We really want to know how he got $6 million for making a movie like this!
