The name Alphonso originated from A Portuguese general and military expert Afonso de Albuquerque who helped establish a Portuguese colony in India. Alphonso is also called Hapoos. It is the most expensive mango variety. It is mainly grown in Western Indian states. The fruit size is medium and its color is yellow and orange. Alphonso mango is a great source of iron and it also contains vitamin E, vitamin A, and selenium.
