Top 10 Ranveer Singh Movies
Ranveer Singh is widely prominent for stealing the limelight for his energetic persona and idiosyncratic clothing style. But we cannot deny that he is one of the most talented performers in Bollywood today. He is known for feeling the characters to his bones and giving everything to the projects. His debut movie, Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), gave a perfect launch to his acting career. He last appeared in Gully Boy as an emerging rapper. It earned more than 200 crores at the box office. His upcoming projects, Sooryavanshi and 83, were set to dispatch last year. However, the ongoing COVID pandemic halted their releases.
Here are the top 10 movies of Ranveer Singh‘s career! Enjoy!
Befikre
The fourth directional feature of Aditya Chopra is nowhere near his previous cinematic ventures in terms of quality. It received a negative response from the moviegoers for its bland narrative and not-so-much-interesting plot. However, the performances of the leading duo, Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, were praised by the critics. It has some funny and bright moments. But the overall movie seems like a big misfire from Aditya Chopra.
Dil Dhadakne Do
Despite receiving criticism for its extended runtime, Dil Dhadakne Do works like a well-made family drama. It centres on the members of a dysfunctional family. All their buddies and relatives are invited to celebrate the 30th marriage anniversary of the parents, Kamal and Indu Mehra. However, things get tensed when the members reveal their frustrations and suppressed feelings. But they later reconcile in the end. Ranveer Singh, Anushka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Anil Kapoor, and others are among the chief cast.
Gunday
Set during the 1980’s Calcutta, Gunday is based on the story of two best friends named Bikram and Bala. Their unbreakable bond of friendship gets tested when a Cabrett dancer enters their lives. Additionally, their past crimes also come to haunt them when ACP Sarkar looks to arrest them. Masses liked its stylish take on the vintage Bollywood dramas. It was a decent success in terms of box office collections.
Ladies vs Ricky Bahl
The unexpected mega-success of Band Baaja Baaraat led to the production of this movie. Though, it fails to recreate the magic of the former one. But it still has a few surprises under its sleeve. Parineeti Chopra made a spectacular debut with this YRF product. The fantastic composing duo of Salim-Sulaiman delivered some great hit songs. Ranveer Singh plays Ricky Bahl, a con man who cons three different women. Those ladies take the help of a lady con artist named Ishika to take revenge on him.
Padmaavat
Do you still remember the chaos this mega-scale Bhansali project made during the time of its release? Gosh! Several prominent factions in Northern India stopped it from being released. They blamed Sanjay Leela Bhansali for fabricating various historical incidents and misusing his artistic liberty. Whatever the case might be, but Padmaavat is nowhere near being called a perfect historical film. It suffers from a lot of historical inaccuracies and stretched runtime. It largely depends upon its performances and action sequences. Ranveer Singh stole all the focus by his scintillating role of Khilji.
Band Baaja Baaraat
No one would have imagined at the time of its dispatch that this little beauty would become one of the best Bollywood movies of 2010. It has been included in the category of cult films. Anushka Sharma was already popular for starring in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008). It was time for debutant Ranveer Singh to shine on the big screen. And he did his job perfectly! A pair of wedding planners who eventually fall in love with each other in the end… This is Bollywood at its best!
Lootera
Lootera is one of the precious gems in Vikramaditya Motwane’s directional arsenal. He is widely known for directing unconventional Bollywood flicks. And he did an excellent job with this one! Despite being declared as “average” on the box office, it impressed every moviegoer with its top-notch plot, outstanding performances, and the overall 1950’s milieu of Bengal. A must-watch movie!
Gully Boy
Gully Boy flawlessly depicts the growing rap culture on Indian soil. A Dharavi slum boy looks to make his name in the world of rapping with the help of his mentor, MC Sher. Murad adapts the nickname, Gully Boy. He fearlessly follows his passion in the midst of various problems like his abusive father, possessiveness of Safeena, poor background, and others. It swept a total of 13 Filmfare Awards. Ranveer Singh ended up grabbing the Filmfare for Best Actor.
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela
There is no doubt in admitting that this Bhansali movie cemented the careers of the leading duo, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Many insiders believe that their real-life love story also commenced during the sets of Ram-Leela. It was praised for Bhansali’s direction, performances of the cast, songs, and emotional weight of the storyline. Veteran Supriya Pathak bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Bajirao Mastani
Bajirao Mastani was released alongside SRK’s Dilwale. The latter beat BM in terms of collection. But when it came to quality, Dilwale was nowhere near Bhansali’s masterpiece. It is the director’s greatest project to date. It was immensely praised for its large-scale battle sequences, terrific performances, incredible songs, top dance choreographies, and a mesmerizing conclusion to the overall love saga of Bajirao and Mastani. Priyanka Chopra’s enthralling performance completely overshadowed Padukone’s character in this movie.
