Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies

So many big-budget prominent cinematic projects were unable to release last year due to the ongoing pandemic. A majority of them were postponed. The safety of viewers and poor chances of great financial returns were hailed as the reasons behind their postponement at that time. However, we cannot say that the present environment has become completely safe. But theatres have opened in several big countries. Yes, they are not operating at their full capacity. But they are preserving the essence of true cinematic experience in recent times. That’s what matters the most!

Here are the top 10 most anticipated movies of 2021! Enjoy!

Dune

Dune (October 1, 2021)

Denis Villeneuve’s last project, Blade Runner 2049, might have dazzled the viewers. But it failed to recoup its production budget and ended up as a box office bomb. We are sure he is looking not to replicate the same feat with the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Dune.

It is not a hidden fact that tensions between Denis Villeneuve and Warner Bros are pretty high regarding Dune’s release. The former wants its theatrical release only. But the studio is hell-bent on dispatching it simultaneously in theatres as well as on HBO Max. It seems like the all-out war between the director and the studio is far from over.

Based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name, Dune is planned as a two-part series. The first entry is rumoured to cover nearly half portion of the novel. Its sequel will be released later. It is crammed with a star-studded cast of Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Issac, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, and others.

Untitled fourth Matrix film

Matrix 4 (December 22, 2021)

The Wachowskis’ Matrix trilogy started with a bang but ended with a lot of confusion and controversies. Admit it! The climax of the third movie still baffles our precious minds. Will the upcoming Matrix instalment resolve all the complexity left behind by its predecessors? Only time will tell us about its future!

The breathtaking Keanu Reeves will definitely return for this one! He will star alongside Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson, Neil Patrick Harris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Jessica Henwick, and many more.

Like all other WB’s upcoming projects, this Matrix movie will be available for a month on HBO Max along with its theatrical release.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (September 24, 2021)

The first entry in Sony’s Venom franchise was nothing but a complete mess. Tom Hardy’s performance and visual effects were the only brilliant thing about that disaster. It seems like the studio is trying everything it can to fix the shortcomings of the first one.

The recent Venom trailer looked more lighthearted and creepy compared to the previous instalment. Andy Serkis was hired as the director in August 2020. We will see the live-action debut of Cletus Kasady (Carnage) on the big screen, portrayed by none other than Woody Harrelson. The additional cast includes Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Michelle Williams, and Stephen Graham.

Top Gun: Maverick

Top Gun: Maverick (November 19, 2021)

After a long and devastating wait of 35 years, the sequel to the Top Gun (1986) will finally dispatch this year. It was scheduled to release last year. Like other prominent productions, it was also affected by the ongoing pandemic. Its trailer has received immense praise for its realistic aerial shots and camera angles.

The plot revolves around Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, captain and flight instructor. He still believes that he was responsible for his best friend, Nick’s death. His life changes after the arrival of Nick’s son, Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw. Miles Teller is set to portray the latter character. The remaining cast consists of Jennifer Connelly, John Hamm, Ed Harris, Val Kilmer, and others.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (September 3, 2021)

This movie is set to launch MCU’s first Asian live-action superhero, Shang-Chi. The studio went with the Mandarin’s arc with this one instead of bestowing Fu Manchu. The latter served as the protagonist’s father in the comics. But it seems like the executives did not possess its rights. Additionally, they must be desperate to resolve the controversial Mandarin scenario of Iron Man 3 (2013).

Mandarin gives ten years to Shang-Chi to live his life to the fullest. But everything turns to chaos when the former orders him to join the Ten Rings organization. Alongside Simu Liu, various performers like Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, and others are also present in this project.

Black Widow

Black Widow (July 9, 2021)

Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), Black Widow will unravel secrets about Natasha Romanoff’s past life before she got hired as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent. Fans were crying about her solo project for a very long period of time. Unfortunately, it got pushed back a year due to the current COVID situation. We will also see Yelena Belova taking the mantle of Black Widow from Natasha.

In addition to Scarlett Johansson, we will get Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, and others. Furthermore, Taskmaster will make its live-action debut with this movie.

No Time To Die

No Time To Die (September 30, 2021)

The previous James Bond instalment, Spectre (2015), turned out to be a bit messy and disjointed movie for the viewers. Still, the franchise plans to undo all the past wrongdoings with No Time To Die. After getting postponed countless times, it finally got its dispatch date in September this year. It will be released a month later in the U.S.

Bond will return as a retired “00” agent in this Cary Joji Fukunaga’s project. He will tackle a new villain named Safin, who plans to murder millions of innocents. Plus, his mysterious connection with Madeleine will certainly raise some hard-hitting questions.

The magnetic Daniel Craig will feature alongside a talented cast of Lea Seydoux, Rami Malek, Ben Winshaw, Naomie Harris, Ana de Armas, Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, and others. The fans will also witness a new “00” agent named Nomi in this movie.

The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad (July 30, 2021)

Despite earning more than $700 million on the box office, the last Suicide Squad movie was hailed as the worst DCEU project ever. But with James Gunn at the helm, Warner Bros is determined to win our hearts back with its upcoming Rated R project. Don’t you think that they should have shown the same enthusiasm about Snyderverse? Anyway…

The film will introduce several new characters like Peacemaker, Bloodsport, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man etc. The cast is stacked with Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, and many more.

Eternals

Eternals (November 5, 2021)

The latest teaser trailer of Eternals has hyped the entire MCU fanbase. Let’s face it, a majority of MCU geeks are not expert about this faction. Some of these guys have never heard about them before. It will be really exhilarating to watch this group of superheroes fighting against their evil and grotesque counterparts, Deviants.

The diversity of the movie’s cast has already attracted a lot of attention from the fans. It features talents like Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Kumail Nanjiani, and many more.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home (December 17, 2021)

This upcoming mega Spidey project is undoubtedly the most anticipated movie of this year! The casting of Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina has already hyped the fans. They are putting forward various theories on the internet. But the most prominent among them is the Multiverse theory. Admit it! We all want to see the trio of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in this film. However, the casting of the latter two gentlemen has not been confirmed yet. Fans will be very disappointed if they watch anything lower than this scenario.

Doctor Strange will mentor Peter Parker in this movie like Tony used to do in the previous MCU instalments. It treasures incredible performers like Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
