Turning out of the pages of Marvel versus DC came the Amalgam line, a few smaller than expected series which merged components of at least one character from both Marvel and DC into one. The investigations went from the very cool, similar to Doctor StrangeFate (blend of Doctor Strange and Doctor Fate) and the suitably named Super Soldier (blend of Superman and Captain America) to the somewhat venturesome, similar to Dark Claw (a blend of Batman and Wolverine) and Speed Demon (a blend of The Flash and Ghost Rider).

A fascinating analysis, the Amalgam universe was a method for energizing fans while slackening the injuries on inventively portraying characters with many years of history.
