With the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), Marvel Cinematic Universe concluded the entire Infinity Saga. It holds a total of 23 action-packed and memorable superhero movies in its arsenal. Under the control of its godfather, Kevin Feige, it kept expanding and developing itself with every instalment. Currently, it is the highest-grossing franchise of all time. Other prominent movie franchises are nowhere near it in terms of box office collections. Now, it promises to deliver new characters, stories, and unlimited entertainment with the release of its Phase Four. Black Widow (2021) is set to become the first theatrical release of the upcoming phase.

Here are the top 10 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies! Enjoy!

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

The third time is definitely the charm! The second instalment of The Amazing Spider-Man series nearly killed this superhero franchise. But thanks to MCU for breathing new fire into this iconic superhero character. Jon Watts’ fresh and lighter directorial approach towards this movie certainly looks much better than the previous Spidey entries. Tom Holland’s portrayal as school-going, energetic, and funny Spider-Man dazzled and satisfied the fans. As for Micheal Keaton, he shocked everyone! MCU projects have received constant criticism about not properly focusing on their villains. But the former Batman astounded the audience with his ruthless and fierce persona as Vulture.

Iron Man

Iron Man (2008)

Meet the foundation stone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The executives were not even sure about its success before dispatching it. However, the unexpected alliance of Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr turned it into gold. The mechanics of this project blended perfectly with the smooth CGI. The director’s stylish and militarized approach to the film impresses us. And we don’t think that we have to say anything about its leading man… RDJ! He literally owns the character of Tony Stark. It feels like he was born to play this role. He is the epitome of perfect casting! Additionally, we witnessed notable supporting characters like Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), Obadiah Shane (Jeff Bridges), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Terrence Howard).

Black Panther

Black Panther (2018)

Black Panther is probably one of the most groundbreaking cinematic instalments of all time. Largely due to its predominantly black cast. With talented performers like late Chadwick Boseman, Micheal B. Jordan, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Daniel Kaluuya, and others, the movie worked like a charm on the viewers. Special praises were directed to its direction, performances, cultural references, musical score, and costumes. Boseman delivered a layered and controlled portrayal of T’Challa. His counterpart, Jordan (Killmonger), looked absolutely ferocious. Despite playing the villain, he dominated the entire project.

Marvel’s The Avengers

Marvel’s The Avengers (2012)

Joss Whedon may have been suffering the consequences of his rude and abusive behaviour on the sets of Justice League. But he did a damn fine job on this masterpiece. Fueled with Alan Silvestri’s evocative musical score, it flawlessly brings all the Avengers together on the big screen. The collision of all the big egos beautifully transitions into one legendary superhero faction. God of Mischief, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), leads the Chittauri army to invade Earth. Despite possessing different attitudes and sets of beliefs, they all come together and save our planet from them.

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

An ordinary man like Helmut Zemo did what super-powered entities like Loki and Ultron couldn’t do… he ripped The Avengers apart. He hollowed their unity and turned them against each other. It sounds like a horrible nightmare, right? But whose fault was it anyway? Was it a man who tried to exact revenge for his family’s death in Sokovia? Or should we blame The Avengers for facing the consequences of their actions? This movie drops a lot of hard-hitting questions and tests the morality of all the superheroes. It dares to tackle new and political subjects instead of going for the conventional “superheroes saving the world” plot. It also served as an outstanding basis for the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier tv-series.

Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

The mighty Avengers faced their most potent threat ever in this Russo Brothers’ film… Thanos! The Mad Titan was on a path to bring balance to the universe by wiping out half of all the existing living beings. The Infinity Gauntlet adhered with every stone executed the job for him! Snap!

Most of the MCU projects are well-known for going with original screenplays rather than hanging on the comic storylines. That’s exactly what the duo of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely did here! The completely new and fresh plot sidelined all the fans’ theories. Instead, it gave them a unique and indelible cinematic experience. The Russos never lost sight of their vision and balanced all the characters thoroughly.

Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Admit it! No other movie can ever replicate the hype this cinematic sensation generated before its release! Even the tiniest notable elements from all the previous MCU entries were flawlessly embedded in this film. It also furnished satisfying conclusions to the top two characters’ arcs… Iron Man and Captain America!

Yes, a lot of fans believe that the time heist plot seemed cliche. But ask yourself… “Is there any other storyline that could have worked out perfectly as this one did?” The makers did whatever it took to deliver an exhilarating and fulfilling cinematic experience to the fans. We love it 3000!

Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Taika Waititi’s colourful, cheerful, and ingenious approach towards this movie certainly saved it from being a complete mess like Thor: The Dark World (2013). We could not have imagined in our wildest dreams that this film would turn out exceptionally well. The soft sides of the two most powerful Avengers ever, Thor and Hulk, won the hearts of the fans. But is also never hesitated in taking bold decisions like the destruction of Asgard. Cate Blanchett, as always, dispatched a standout performance as Hela. The supporting cast did a phenomenal job as well.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

This James Gunn’s funny, wild, and thrilling superhero rollercoaster ride definitely deserves a spot on this list. The opening dancing sequence of Star-Lord clearly hints that this one is going to be something special. It literally threw all the conventional methods of superhero filmmaking into the garbage and came up with its own distinct vision. It lays out various eye-popping moments combined with hit soundtracks of the 70s and the 80s. It gave a much-needed boost to the careers of performers like Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, and others. Lee Pace served as one of the most worthy villains of MCU as Ronan the Accuser.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

There is no doubt in admitting that the second instalment of the Captain America trilogy is the most matured cinematic project in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Steve Rogers gets assigned to stop HYDRA’s most lethal super-soldier. And it turns out it is his best friend, Bucky Barnes, who was presumed dead during his mission in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). Along with Black Widow and Falcon, Cap disbands the HYDRA operated S.H.I.E.L.D and saves millions of lives from the Project Insight.

The decision to stick with a non-cartoonish political plot proved to be very successful for MCU. It took the entire superhero franchise to new and unexplored territories.
