War
War is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles, it is the third installment of YRF’s Spy Universe. The film also features Vaani Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Anupriya Goenka, and Soni Razdan in supporting roles. The film was initially titled Fighters before its title was changed to War when the official teaser trailer for the film was released on 15 July 2019. The film follows an Indian soldier assigned to eliminate his former mentor who has gone rogue.
Sanju
Sanju is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language biographical comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani and written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi. It was jointly produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the banners Rajkumar Hirani Films and Vinod Chopra Films respectively. The film follows the life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, his addiction to drugs, arrest for his association with the 1993 Bombay bombings, relationship with his father, comeback in the industry, the eventual drop of charges from the Bombay bombings, and release after completing his jail term. Ranbir Kapoor stars as the title character, along with an ensemble cast that features Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Sonam K Ahuja, Pares Rawal, and Jim Sarbh.
Kabir Singh
Kabir Singh is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar Ashwin Varde, and co-produced by Vinod Bhanushali under T-Series Films and Cine1 Studios. A remake of Vanga’s own Telugu film Arjun Reddy , it stars Shahid Kapoor in the titular role as a surgeon who spirals into self-destruction when his girlfriend, Preeti, played by Kiara Advani, marries someone else. Adil Hussain, Nikita Dutta, Arjan Bajwa, Suresh Oberoi, Dolly Minhas, Suparna Marwah, Anurag Arora, Soham Majumdar, Kunal Thakur, Anusha Sampath, Amit Sharma and Kamini Kaushal feature in supporting roles.
PK
PK is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama[c] directed by Rajkumar Hirani and written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi. It was jointly produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the banners Rajkumar Hirani Films and Vinod Chopra Films respectively. The film follows an alien who comes to Earth on a research mission but loses his remote to a thief, who later sells it to a godman. He befriends a television journalist and in his quest to retrieve the remote, questions religious dogmas and superstitions. The film stars Aamir Khan in the titular role with Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla, and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles.
Mission Mangal
Mission Mangal is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Jagan Shakti and jointly produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions, Fox Star Studios, Aruna Bhatia, and Anil Naidu. Loosely based on the life of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to India’s first interplanetary expedition Mars Orbiter Mission, it stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, H. G. Dattatreya, and Vikram Gokhale
Sultan
Sultan is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language sports drama film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, the film stars Salman Khan as the title character opposite Anushka Sharma. The film focuses on Sultan Ali Khan, a fictional pehlwani wrestler and former world wrestling champion from Haryana whose successful career has created a rift in his personal life.
Devadas
Devdas has been done before, actually—the famous 2002 movie is the third Hindi remake and has been made 12 times in total. Here’s the plot: In the early 1900s, Devdas (Shah Rukh Khan) returns to India after a decade in London, expecting to marry Paro (Aishwarya Rai), his childhood best friend. Their socioeconomic differences keep them apart. Expect dance numbers, elaborate sets, and India’s most famous stars at the top of their game.
Gully Boy
Executive produced by Nas, Gully Boy tells the story of Murad Ahmed (Ranveer Singh), a 22-year-old college student, who lives in the slums of Mumbai and has a passion for hip-hop. It’s inspired by real-life hip-hop stars, Divine and Naezy, who took India by storm when they released their first viral video, “Mere Gully Mein,” on YouTube in 2015. Ranveer Singh also takes your breath away with every song.
Pad Man
If you loved the Oscar-winning documentary, Period. End of Sentence, you’ll enjoy this movie inspired by the real-life “Pad Man,” Arunachalam Muruganantham. In a society where even the concept of discussing sanitary pads is considered taboo, Laxmi sets out to create his own, cheaper version of the feminine product.
Padmavati
Bollywood’s favorite couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh team up once again with director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali for this masterpiece. It focuses on an eccentric ruler who travels a long distance to (essentially) kidnap the beautiful Rajput Queen, Padmavati. If you’ve seen Bhansali’s Ram Leela or Bajirao Mastani, you can expect the same level of aesthetic that transports viewers centuries into the past. As usual, Singh and Padukone deliver awe-inspiring performances.
