Top 10 DC Extended Universe Characters

DC Extended Universe is like a bag that contains some spectacular objects. But at the same time, it also disappoints us with its garbage. There is a bit of both good and bad in this franchise. It has received widespread acclaim for instalments like Wonder Woman (2017), Shazam! (2019), and others. But it has also been mutilated by fans for Suicide Squad (2016), BvS (2016 – theatrical version), and many more. Fans believe that Warner Bros is solely responsible for establishing a mess like this. The studio has been constantly condemned for copying Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s style instead of taking a fresh path. The recent release of Snyder Cut has commenced a social media revolution. Diehard DC fans clearly want the studio to restore the Snyder Verse. However, it seems like WB’s ultimate goal is to wipe out Zack Snyder from their database. They are no longer interested in his version. Instead, they are concentrated more on solo instalments.

Despite DCEU’s messy history, we have identified its top 10 characters and put them on the following list! Enjoy!

Frederick “Freddy” Freeman

Frederick “Freddy” Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer)

Are you surprised to see him on this list? Don’t be! An awesome sidekick like Freddy clearly deserves a spot on this list. Do not forget that he mentored Billy when he first got his powers. He aided him to discover his true qualities. Despite being a disabled boy, he always helps Billy and his foster family when needed.

After appearing in IT (2017) as Eddie, Grazer was chosen for the role of Freddy. And he instantly became a fan-favourite with his boyish and amazing performance. Adam Brody plays his adult version.

Deadshot

deadshot

Deadshot/Floyd Lawton (Will Smith)

Just when the fans began to think that the theatrical cut of BvS was horrible, WB dropped another bomb in the form of Suicide Squad (2016). From the start to the climax, the movie looked disjointed and tarnished. David Ayer had an amazing opportunity to restore the faith of the fans in DCEU. But his directorial project turned out to be the worst entry in this entire franchise. However, Will Smith and Margot Robbie were the only positives in that bloody hoopla. The former looked in touch and delivered a committed performance.

Cyborg

cyborg

Cyborg/Victor Stone (Ray Fisher)

Ray Fisher was among the first performers who openly supported the Snyder Cut. He informed people about Joss Whedon’s abusive behaviour on the sets of Josstice League… sorry, we mean Justice League! Let’s admit it! Whedon’s version was nothing but absolute trash! Fisher also pointed out that a large part of his character has been removed from the 2017’s JL movie. And we now believe him after watching Snyder’s version. He was literally the heart of the movie. But his entire character was butchered by the hands of Whedon. The ZSJL elegantly displays his emotional trauma after losing his father, Silas Stone. He also played a crucial role in the destruction of the Mother Boxes.

Aquaman

aquaman

Aquaman/Arthur Curry (Jason Mamoa)

Aquaman (2018) is the highest-grossing instalment in DCEU. And people wonder why this superhero franchise is in utter pandemonium. If we keep aside all the disarray, we will find this character as one of the best badasses in this universe. He may be rough and tough from the outside, but his heart is crammed with goodness. His solo film explored his character to a great extent. Despite being a half-Atlantean, he was worthy enough to bear the Trident of Atlan.

Fans never doubted Jason Mamoa’s ability to nail this wonderful character. And he did not dishearten them by giving an electrifying and spirited performance. He will appear in Aquaman 2, set to release in 2022.

The Flash

the flash

The Flash/Barry Allen (Ezra Miller)

We have watched Grant Gustin playing this iconic role for more than six years on our television sets. The aura he has created with his heart-winning performance in the series can not be replaced by anyone else. That’s why Miller’s casting did not get full support from the fans. But his performance certainly dazzled everyone. His childish and humorous take on the character was received exceptionally well by the audience. The Snyder Cut proved why he was also an important asset in slaying Steppenwolf for good.

Shazam

shazam

Shazam/Billy Batson (Zachary Levi/Asher Angel)

SHAZAM!

A word that grants superhero abilities to Billy Batson and the rest of his Shazam family. This one is probably the least anticipated movie in the scattered history of DCEU. But it flabbergasted the fans with its heartfelt and comical approach. It was especially praised for going with a lighter tone in comparison to previous instalments. Plus, Zachary Levi’s performance stood out the most in this little beauty! And Asher Angel deserves equal credit for his wonderful role as teen Billy.

Superman

Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill)

Do you remember that time when Henry Cavill’s casting as Superman was severely criticized by the fans? Now, they are begging Warner Bros to bring him back for the role. It is funny how quickly time changes. The studio may have squashed him for good. But we cannot deny that he has left an unfillable void in this cluttered superhero universe.  Yes, he looked off in some scenes in MOS (2013). But he unquestionably gave a stunning performance in BvS. In ZSJL, he proved once again why he deserved to don the cape.

Batman

batman

Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck)

We still remember those times when Ben Affleck received a serious backlash from social media after getting his hands on the role of The Caped Crusader. But his gritty and ferocious take on the character instantly made him a fan-favourite. Many believed that his version of Batman looked much more similar to the comics. He might have made Superman taste the dirt in BvS, but he was also the one who believed in him the most. Additionally, the fans were relieved to watch a witty and light version of Bruce in ZSJL as compared to his vengeful persona in his first appearance.

Ben Affleck, alongside Micheal Keaton and Ezra Miller, is set to reprise his role in The Flash (2022).

Wonder Woman

wonder woman

Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Gal Gadot)

Along with Ben Affleck, Gadot was the one who shined the most in BvS. No one was expecting her to deliver a surprisingly breathtaking performance in that movie. Later on, she got the opportunity to star in the WW solo project (2017). She stole the heart of every comic book fan with her elegant and tender approach towards the Amazonian character. The second collaboration between her and Patty Jenkins may have doomed at the box office, but it does not mean that her journey as the daughter of Hippolyta has ended.

Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn/Harleen Quinzel (Margot Robbie)

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

The Joker’s heartbeat, Harley Quinn, has taken the top spot on this list! Does it seem like a hard pill to swallow? Well, her overall performance in DCEU does not seem to agree with you at all! She clearly deserves the number one spot here. Margot Robbie’s character was the only piece of gold that emerged from the heaps of Suicide Squad’s garbage. Her memorable performance played a pivotal role in holding the movie together. Yeah, we admit that Birds of Prey (2020) was not that amazing. But she stole the show in that project too. She is set to play that maniac in the rebooted film, The Suicide Squad (2021).
