Tom Hardy

 

Hardy’s television roles include the HBO war drama mini-series Band of Brothers (2001), the BBC historical drama mini-series The Virgin Queen (2005), Bill Sikes in the BBC’s mini-series Oliver Twist (2007), ITV‘s Wuthering Heights (2009), the Sky 1 drama series The Take (2009), and as Alfie Solomons in the BBC historical crime drama series Peaky Blinders (2014–present). He created, co-produced, and took the lead in the eight-part historical fiction series Taboo (2017) on BBC One and FX.

Ian McKellen

McKellen was knighted in the 1991 New Year Honours for services to the performing arts and made a Companion of Honour for services to drama and equality in the 2008 New Year Honours. He is gay and has been open about his sexuality since 1988, and continues to champion LGBT social movements worldwide. He was awarded Freedom of the City of London in October 2014.

Jude Law

Law has also had an accomplished career on stage, performing in several West End and Broadway productions such as Les Parents Terribles in 1994, Hamlet in 2010, and Anna Christie in 2011. He received Tony Award nominations for the first and second of these.

Martin Freeman

Freeman’s most notable roles are that of Tim Canterbury in the mockumentary series The Office (2001–2003), Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama series Sherlock (2010–2017), Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit film trilogy (2012–2014), and Lester Nygaard in the first season of the dark comedy-crime drama series Fargo (2014). He has also appeared in films such as the romantic comedy Love Actually (2003), and as Everett K. Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Captain America: Civil War (2016), Black Panther (2018), and the upcoming Black Panther II (2022).

James McAvoy

In 2003, McAvoy appeared in a lead role in Bollywood Queen, then in another lead role as Rory in Inside, I’m Dancing in 2004. This was followed by a supporting role, as the faun Mr. Tumnus, in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005). His performance in Kevin Macdonald’s drama The Last King of Scotland (2006), garnered him several award nominations, including the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor. The critically acclaimed romantic drama war film Atonement (2007) earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination and his second BAFTA nomination. He later appeared as a newly trained assassin in the action thriller Wanted.

Rowan Atkinson

Atkinson was listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest actors in British comedy in 2007, and among the top 50 comedians ever, in a 2005 poll of fellow comedians. He has collaborated with screenwriter Richard Curtis and composer Howard Goodall throughout his career, both of whom he met at the Oxford University Dramatic Society during the 1970s. In addition to his 1981 BAFTA, Atkinson received an Olivier Award for his 1981 West End theatre performance in Rowan Atkinson in Revue. He has had cinematic success with his performances in the Mr. Bean film adaptations Bean (1997) and Mr. Bean’s Holiday (2007) and the Johnny English film series. He also appeared as the titular character in Maigret. Atkinson was appointed a CBE in the 2013 Birthday Honours for services to drama and charity.

Idris Elba

Elba left school in 1988 and won a place in the National Youth Music Theatre after a £1,500 Prince’s Trust grant. To support himself between roles in his early career, he worked in odd jobs including tire-fitting, cold-calling, and night shifts at Ford Dagenham. He was working in nightclubs under the DJ nickname “Big Driis” during his adolescence but began auditioning for television roles in his early twenties. 

Henry Cavill

Cavill gained international recognition with his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe superhero films Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Justice League (2017). He also starred in the action spy films The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018).

Daniel Radcliffe

Following the success of Harry Potter, Radcliffe played lawyer Arthur Kipps in the horror film The Woman in Black (2012); poet Allen Ginsberg in the film Kill Your Darlings; the title character’s assistant, Igor, in the science fiction fantasy Victor Frankenstein (2015); Manny, a sentient corpse in the comedy-drama Swiss Army Man (2016); technological prodigy Walter Mabry in the heist thriller film Now You See Me 2 (2016); and FBI agent Nate Foster in the critically acclaimed thriller Imperium (2016). Benedict Cumberbatch

In the film, Cumberbatch has starred in Amazing Grace as William Pitt the YoungerStar Trek Into Darkness as Khan12 Years a Slave (2013) as William Prince FordThe Fifth Estate (2013) as Julian Assange, and The Imitation Game as Alan Turing. He played the characters of Smaug and Sauron in The Hobbit film series. In superhero films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has played Dr. Stephen Strange in Doctor Strange (2016), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019); he is slated to reprise his roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
