The One

Nile Niami, a speculative developer, has been teasing “The One” — a 100,000-square-foot mega-mansion in Bel-Air — for years. The interiors of The One, a five-acre estate in the high class Los Angeles suburb of Bel Air, have remained a highly protected secret. The estate seems to float above the area, surrounded on three sides by a lake and a 400-foot-long jogging track. It took eight years to complete and 600 staff to construct. The main entrance of the house, with its 26-foot-high ceilings, leads to a variety of gathering areas with panoramic 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean, downtown Los Angeles, and the San Gabriel Ranges. Water fills the entrance room, which also includes a carving and a bridge.

If a lake view isn’t enough, you’ll need to invest in a swimming pool and pond as well. The landscaping is inspired by Suzhou’s Classical Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These ancient gardens, which incorporate stones, water, and plants, are in the same city as Taohuayuan, a 72,441-square-foot mansion on Dushu Lake. The interior decor is a combination of modern and more traditional style, with 32 bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as a wine cellar. According to Mansion Global, when it went on sale in 2016, it was the most luxurious house in mainland China. Views of Suzhou’s skyline, the privacy of its island environment, and curved roofs and other typical architectural elements were included in the $154 million amount.
