What distinguishes a grand hotel? Is it the number of stars that matter? Location? The kind of acclaim does it receive as a result of its popularity among celebrities, the wealthy, and ordinary people alike? Is it because of the exclusivity and a certain level of privacy? It could be a combination of these factors, as well as others.

However, for this list, we’ll focus on the hotel’s room count. After all, many people measure a hotel’s success by its ability to accommodate a large number of visitors without compromising their comfort or service quality. Based on the number of guest rooms, here are the top ten hotels in the world.

First World Hotel

The First World Hotel & Plaza is a hotel, shopping, and entertainment complex consisting of a 3-star hotel and a plaza located at Resorts World Genting in Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. The resort is managed by First World Hotel, Resorts Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Genting Malaysia Berhad and Genting Group.

The First World Hotel is a three-tower, three-star hotel with 7,351 rooms. Since 2015, it has held the Guinness World Records distinction for the world’s largest hotel by several rooms.

The Palazzo took over the title after an extension of The Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip, which was formally opened on January 1, 2008. The hotel previously held the title in 2006 with just 6,118 rooms in two towers, Tower 1 and 2.

After erecting a second tower, Tower 2 Annex (Tower 2A), with 1,233 rooms, the hotel recovered its status. The First World Hotel is the first hotel in Southeast Asia to introduce E-Kiosks, or self-service check-in and check-out kiosks.

The Venetian Las Vegas

The Venetian Las Vegas is a premium hotel and casino resort in Paradise, Nevada, United States, on the site of the former Sands Hotel.

The hotel tower, designed by KlingStubbins, has 36 stories and a height of 475 feet (145 m). Vici Properties owns the Venetian, which is managed by Apollo Global Management.

The nearby Palazzo resort and The Venetian Convention and Expo Center center, as well as the future MSG Sphere at The Venetian, are all part of the Venetian resort complex. With 4,049 rooms, 3,068 suites, and a 120,000-square-foot (11,000 m2) casino, the Venetian-Palazzo complex is the world’s second-biggest hotel; its sister casino, The Venetian Macao, is the world’s largest.

MGM Grand Las Vegas

The MGM Grand Las Vegas is a hotel and casino in Paradise, Nevada, on the Las Vegas Strip. With 6,852 rooms, the MGM Grand is the largest single hotel in the United States.

It is also the world’s third-largest hotel complex by room count and the United States’ second-largest hotel resort complex, behind The Venetian and The Palazzo. The MGM Grand was the world’s largest hotel complex when it debuted in 1993.

The 30-story main building, which is owned by MGM Growth Properties and The Blackstone Group and operated by MGM Resorts International, stands 293 feet (89 meters) tall.

The 6.6-acre (2.7-hectare) site contains five outdoor pools, rivers, and waterfalls, as well as a 380,000-square-foot (35,000-square-meter) conference center, the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and the Grand Spa. It also has various stores, nightclubs, restaurants, and Clark County’s largest casino, which spans 171,500 square feet.

CityCenter

CityCenter (also known as CityCenter Las Vegas) is a mixed-use urban complex on 76 acres (31 ha) on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, that spans 16.797 million square feet (1,560,500 m2).

MGM Resorts International launched the project, and Dubai World joined as a joint partner during the construction phase. It is the largest privately funded construction project in United States history.

A people mover system connects the project to the neighboring MGM properties Park MGM and Bellagio Las Vegas.  The “CityCenter” branding has mostly been phased out as of 2015, with the focus shifting to the Aria brand of the development’s flagship property, with titles like “Aria Express” (previously “CityCenter Tram”) and “Aria Art Collection” (formerly “CityCenter Art Collection”).

The Londoner Macao

The Londoner Macao is a casino resort located on Macau’s Cotai Strip. Sands China stated on August 5, 2011, that the $4 billion property formerly known as parcels five and six would be renamed Sands Cotai Central. The resort’s first phase opened on April 11, 2012. In 2021, the resort was renamed The Londoner Macao.

The entire complex was officially rebranded by The Londoner Macao on 8 February 2021, when the first phase of the renovated property celebrated its grand opening.

The Londoner Hotel, a brand-new Crystal Palace atrium with a reproduction of the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, new dining options, and several interactive London-themed activities are all part of the first phase. As part of Phase 1, The Residence, a British-style exclusive club for guests of The Londoner Hotel, opened its doors.

The Izmailovo Hotel is a four-building hotel in Moscow, Russia’s Izmaylovo District. It was the world’s largest hotel from 1980, when it exceeded the 3200-room Rossiya Hotel, also in Moscow, until 1993, when the MGM Grand Las Vegas was expanded to 5009 rooms, with a capacity of 3,500 people.

Because Moscow lacked hotel rooms for the 1980 Summer Olympics, it was erected. It is normally categorized as a three-star hotel (although Alfa, Beta, Vega, and Delta are four-star hotels), and its four buildings, Alfa, Beta, Vega, and Gamma-Delta, are all operated independently.

Wynn Las Vegas

Mandalay Bay

Mandalay Bay is a 43-story luxury resort and casino in Paradise, Nevada, located on the Las Vegas Strip. MGM Growth Properties and The Blackstone Group own it, and MGM Resorts International runs it.

The Delano is located in one of the property’s towers, while the Four Seasons Hotel is located on five floors (35–39) of the Mandalay Bay tower.

Mandalay Bay features 3,209 hotel rooms, 24 elevators, and a 135,000-square-foot casino (12,500 m2). The Mandalay Bay Convention Center (190,000 m2) and the 12,000-seat Michelob Ultra Arena are both adjacent to the hotel.

Luxor Las Vegas

Luxor Las Vegas is a 30-story hotel and casino in Paradise, Nevada, located near the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. MGM Resorts International owns and operates the hotel, which includes a 120,000-square-foot (11,000-square-meter) casino with over 2,000 slot machines and 87 table games.

The casino first opened its doors in 1993, and it has since been refurbished and enlarged multiple times. Later renovations brought the hotel’s design up to date and increased its capacity to 4,407 rooms, including 442 suites. The hotel’s rooms line the interior walls of the main tower, which has a pyramid shape, and the 22-story twin ziggurat towers.
