Top 10 Best Movies Of Kamal Hassan

Kamal Hassan made his acting debut as a boy in the Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma in 1960. Since then, he has appeared in over 200 films in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Bengali, among other languages. He’s a screenwriter, editor, actor, playback singer, and choreographer, amongst other things. We’ve compiled a list of Kamal Hassan’s top ten Tamil films.

Nayagan

If the reasons are good or evil, a person who lives by the gun will die by it. This is my final thought after watching this mind-blowing film. On the plot front, the story is fairly straightforward. A young boy’s father is murdered, and he seeks vengeance by fleeing to Mumbai to become a Robin Hood-style gangster with a lot of daring and a big heart, making him very famous among his followers. However, his actions cause his family to bear the brunt of the consequences, and when asked if he was a good or bad guy, he has no response. This film is worth seeing because of the excellent storytelling, music, and presentation, as well as Kamal Haasan. Even after all these years, it’s still a fantastic watch.

Thevar Magan

Thevar Magan

The film has been in theatres for 25 years. The movie stone was carved by director Bharadhan into a beautiful sculpture. Kamal Hassan and Sivaji Ganesan’s acting is phenomenal. The entire film team did an amazing job with the visuals and the editing. To be honest, one of my favorite movies from my school days when my parents wanted to go somewhere for an event or program. I have no words to express my admiration for this film. Beyond excellence and top-notch acting by some of Tamil cinema’s most talented actors. Easily one of the best climaxes ever written, and I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen this masterpiece.

Moondram Pirai

Moondram Pirai

Sreedevi’s last unforgettable Tamil film before relocating to Hindi was this one. This Balu Mahendra film is regarded as an Indian cinema cult classic. Seenu (Kamal), a simple schoolteacher, saves a young woman (Sreedevi) from a brothel. The girl has just a child’s memory and has no idea who she is. Viji is her name, and he looks after her lovingly. He also uses different medications to try to resurrect her memory. The plot revolves around how their relationship evolves and what happens after that. It was cuteness overload, but not to the point of being obnoxious. Without a trace of overacting, Sreedevi was fine as the child-woman. As the simple man, Kamal Haasan was completely convincing. The character of Silk Smitha added oomph to the story. Every scene involving Kamal and Sreedevi was memorable, oozing with easy chemistry. Every song of Illaiyaraja was beautiful – be it Kanne Kalaimane, Poongattru, Vaan enum, Ponmeni, or the totally uproarious Munbu oru kalathila (the storytelling song).

Guna

Guna

In Tamil, it’s a flawless film. Guna has some interesting twists and turns. Good tempo. Strange things are happening. The best Tamil film, which is also suitable for non-Tamils! The songs are fantastic. Kanmani’s song was very imaginative, but it was also feasible in real life. Unnai Naan Ariven excelled at merging disparate locations. Kamal Haasan and the rest of the cast performed admirably. Along with director Santhana Barathi, Kamalahasan played a significant role in the production of this film. Both are deserving of praise. You could really sense the shift in atmosphere as the story moved from a congested area somewhere in Hyderabad to a hillside somewhere else. This was not a popular film, and it does not appeal to everyone. You will enjoy this film if you watch it with a little more attention to detail and a feeling for people who are not really normal.

Punnagai Mannan

Punnagai Mannan

Sedhu (Kamal Hassan) and his two love stories are central to the story. One with Rekha, who is killed in a suicide attempt with Sedhu (who, of course, survives tragically). This is a scene that you can all watch. OMG… it’s an outstanding performance… Kamal Hassan captures the true emotion of a lover who has died in front of him… and he can’t even die…Once again, this film’s soundtrack is a smashing success. This film was released during Tamil cinema’s golden age when all Ilayaraja composed turned out to be music, rhythm, or whatever you want to call it.

Virumaandi

Virumaandi

The plot adapts Akira Kurasowa’s Rashomon screenplay in a completely different form. The film was elevated by Kamal Hassan and Pasupathy’s outstanding performances. The music of Maestro Ilayaraja has been used to perfection. The scenes of the Climax riots were adapted from Stanley Kubrick’s Spartacus. Once again, it’s been used to great effect. The bullfight is incredible. Artwork necessitates genuine admiration. The sets for the village and the central prison are also fantastic. The film is absolutely fantastic and must-see entertainment. This film will teach those interested in making good cinema a lot about the process. Kamal performs admirably as an actor, director, producer, lyricist, singer, and a host of other roles.

Dasavatharam

I accept that the plot isn’t as good as we had hoped. It only has a simple thread (but) the ten characters are BEAUTIFULLY interlaced onto it. The film is a VISUAL EXPERIENCE (100 percent). It is well worth the money you spend. If you want to get the most out of the film, avoid reading any summaries/synopses or learning about Mr. Kamal’s ten characters. Though you will become bored during the half-hour leading up to the intermission, the events following the intermission are more than enough to entice you back into the film. The Tsunami Sequence, in particular, is the strongest. The sequence was shot to perfection. There are also several Hollywood-style car chases, including chopper chases (which are a rare thing in Indian Cinemas).

Anbe Sivam

Anbe Sivam

Another gem from Kamal Hassan. Kamal Hassan and Madhavan give outstanding performances. Vidyasagar’s music is fantastic. It’s more like an art film than a comedy. It is, in my view, the best Tamil film in recent memory. And one of Mani Ratnam’s best non-Mani Ratnam films. The socialism is subtle but simple, and the director has done an excellent job with the film. It will go down in Tamil film history as a classic. The film did not perform well at the box office, as is typical of good art films, but it had an impact nonetheless. It is currently my favorite Tamil film, and I would recommend it to everyone. You will not be disappointed if you watch this film.

Michael Madana Kama Rajan

Michael Madana Kama Rajan

Definitely my favorite actor Kamalhassan’s best comedy. Consider how far ahead of its time this film was. It was published in 1990-91) and its key flaw was that. Since the general public did not notice it at the time, it did not become a box office smash (compared to Rajini movies). But, when it is said and done, this film is a true classic. The script and dialogues were among the best in Tamil cinema. And Kamal’s depiction of ‘Kameswaran’ is as well-known in Tamil cinema as a movie character can be. With this film, Kamal set such a high standard for himself that he is finding it difficult to meet it in his subsequent films. Even though Sathi Leelavathi and Avvai Shanmugi were both enjoyable comedies, Michael Madana Kamarajan stands out.
