ANGEL FALLS, VENEZUELA

Venezuela is brimming with natural beauties, including the world’s highest waterfall, Angel Falls, which is located in the UNESCO-protected Canaima National Park. ANTELOPE CANYON, ARIZONA

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest. Its Native name translates as “the place where water runs through rocks,” a reference to the canyon’s formation through erosion. When sunlight seeps through the elongated stone, the small, undulating crevices between rock formations create brilliant patterns.

BANFF NATIONAL PARK, CANADA

Banff National Park is undoubtedly amongst the most gorgeous places in Canada, with views of the Canadian Rockies and a regular variety of wildlife. Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and glacial Lake Minnewanka are among the park’s many stunning lakes, each more stunning than the last.

CAPPADOCIA, TURKEY

Cappadocia, a region in Turkey where entire cities have been cut into the rock, is astonishing in and of itself. However, when hot-air balloons fill the sky—many of which begin to rise at sunrise—the beauty level shoots up.

FAROE ISLANDS

Even if you’ve never heard of the Faroe Islands, you will shortly. The self-governed cluster of 18 volcanic islands is simply one gigantic photoshoot option, with its grass-roofed cottages, jagged coasts, and plenty of puffins. Mulafossur Waterfalls is the archipelago’s most well-known attraction—the cascade seems like something out of a fantasy story, cascading down the jagged cliffs of Vagar Island to the ocean beneath with Gásadalur neighborhood’s lush hillsides as a backdrop.

LENÇÓIS MARANHENSES NATIONAL PARK, BRAZIL

The terrain of Brazil’s Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is unlike any other on the planet. The monsoon season (around early June) fills every depression with waters, and the internet takes on the appearance of an M.C. Escher print: it is either a drowning desert or a sandy lake, depending on how the mind’s eye frames what it sees.

MOUNT FUJI, JAPAN

It’s difficult to choose the most wonderful sight in Japan, but Mount Fuji, at 12,388 feet, just could take the award. In the spring, Lake Kawaguchiko offers some of the nicest views of the mountaintop and cherry blossom trees—a postcard-worthy scene if we somehow saw one. If you’re a mountaineer, plan a journey between mid-July and the end of August, when the snow melts enough to allow access to Fuji’s pinnacle.

PAMUKKALE, TURKEY

Pamukkale’s 17 terraced pools (“cotton castle” in Turkish) are as spectacular as hot springs come. The white travertine (limestone) stacks overlooking Denizli, and the motionless 94-degree Fahrenheit waters wonderfully reflect the aquamarine Aegean sky.

SVALBARD, NORWAY

Due to its location within the Arctic Circle, Svalbard, the northernmost archipelago off the coast of Norway, is recognized for outstanding Northern Lights witnessing opportunities—the sky remains pitch black all day and night from October to February. Svalbard is also noted for its fauna, which includes polar bears and arctic foxes that spend their days amidst the vast valleys and ice sheets.
