Rampage

Aquaman

Aquaman premiered in London on November 26, 2018, and was released in the United States on December 21. It grossed about $1.148 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing DCEU film, the highest-grossing film based on a DC Comics character, the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2018, and the 20th-highest-grossing film of all time. The film received praise for its visual effects, production design, tone, action scenes, Wan’s direction, and Momoa’s performance, but its plot and runtime were criticized. A sequel, Aquaman 2, is set to be released in December 2022.

Venom

While exploring space for new habitable worlds, a probe belonging to the bio-engineering corporation Life Foundation discovers a comet covered in symbiotic lifeforms. The probe returns to Earth with four samples, but one escapes and causes the ship to crash in Malaysia.

Kong: The Skull Island

In 1944, two World War II fighter pilots, American pilot Hank Marlow and Japanese pilot Gunpei Ikari, parachute onto an island in the South Pacific after a dogfight and engage in close combat until the fight is interrupted by a giant ape.

The Maze Runner

A teenager wakes up inside an underground elevator with no memory of his identity. Some male youths greet him in a large grassy area, called the “Glade,” enclosed by tall stone walls. The boys, the “Gladers,” have formed a rudimentary society, and each assumes specialized tasks. Their leader, Alby, says that every boy eventually recalls his name but not his past.

In the Pride Lands of Africa, a pride of lions rules over the animal kingdom from Pride Rock. King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi present their newborn son, Simba, to the gathering animals by Rafiki the mandrill, the kingdom’s shaman, and advisor.

Alita: The battle angel

In 2563, 300 years after Earth was devastated by a catastrophic war known as “The Fall”, scientist Dr. Dyson Ido discovers a disembodied female cyborg with an intact human brain while scavenging for parts in the massive scrapyard of Iron City. Ido attaches a new cyborg body to the brain and names her “Alita” after his deceased daughter. Alita awakens with no memory of her past and quickly befriends Hugo, a young man who dreams of moving to the wealthy sky city of Zalem. She also meets Dr. Chiren, Ido’s estranged ex-wife.

The Martian

In 2035, the crew of the Ares III mission to Mars is exploring Acidalia Planitia on Martian solar day (sol) 18 of their 31-sol expedition. A severe dust storm threatens to topple their Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV). The mission is scrubbed, but as the crew evacuates, astronaut Mark Watney is struck by debris. The telemetry from his suit’s bio-monitor is damaged and Watney is presumed dead. With the MAV on the verge of toppling, the remaining crew takes off for their orbiting vessel, the Hermes.

Gods of Egypt

In an alternative ancient Egypt, the ruling god Osiris is killed by his jealous brother Set during the coronation of Osiris’s son Horus. Set seizes the throne and declares that mankind must pay riches to pass into the afterlife. Stripped of his eyes, Horus is exiled as Egypt is driven to its knees.

Interstellar

In 2067, crop blights and dust storms threaten humanity’s survival. Joseph Cooper, a widowed engineer, and former NASA pilot turned farmer, lives with his father-in-law, Donald, his 15-year-old son, Tom Cooper, and 10-year-old daughter, Murphy “Murph” Cooper. After a dust storm, strange dust patterns inexplicably appear on Murphy’s bedroom floor; she attributes the anomaly to a ghost. Cooper eventually deduces the patterns were caused by gravity variations and that they represent geographic coordinates in binary code.
