Victor Hugo composed a novel to save it from destruction
During the Napoleonic Wars, Notre Dame took such a battering that Paris authorities thought about its destruction. To bring issues to light for the antiquated house of God and restore interest in Gothic engineering, which had become broadly dismissed, Victor Hugo composed the novel ‘The Hunchback of Notre-Dame’ in 1831.
It was met by quick achievement, and in 1844 King Louis Philippe requested that the congregation be reestablished.
